Production on The Dark Knight Rises hit a point where Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman garb would be required on the streets of Pittsburgh. Rather than let an amateur photographer beat them to the punch, Warner Bros. released the following still that debuts Catwoman in all her black leather glory.
The still of Catwoman riding the Batpod in front of some stairs jives with rehearsal footage and images from yesterday of a stuntman driving the Batpod down the steps of Carnegie Mellon University, the scene of a massive riot in the film. Everyone appears to be on the ground when Catwoman makes her move.
Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman costume follows the ongoing trend of featuring a textured surface. You can only really see the upper torso in the official shot, but there are other snaps from the set that show Hathaway’s stunt double on the Batpod from a different angle that offer a better look at the suit.
I’m digging the costume for what it is: simplistic. I didn’t expect some elaborate Catwoman outfit in Nolan’s Batman universe so he appears to be sticking to his guns. She looks like a high-tech spy wearing the Batpod goggles.
The Dark Knight Rises is directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, Joseph-Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotillard. Production continues in Pittsburgh where, this weekend, a massive action scene calling for explosions will be shot inside Heinz Field.
