Showtime has cast Mos Def for a recurring role in the sixth season of Dexter per The Hollywood Reporter. He becomes the second recurring character to join the cast in as many days.
Def will play a hip hop artist with a crime-ridden past. He’ll claim to have found religion and be headed down a new path, but violence follows him like a lost puppy. Ultimately Dexter Morgan will uncover the truth about Def’s character and likely deal with the problem in his own personal way.
Yesterday Colin Hanks joined the Dexter season 6 cast as Travis, an artifacts expert tied to a string of gruesome murders. Hanks will appear in all 12 episodes and is considered to be Dexter’s main nemesis.
Def will also be a nemesis of Dexter, but his multi-episode arc is not expected to last the entire seasons. How many episodes remains to be seen.
Production on Dexter season 6 is scheduled to commence next month with an eye toward a September premiere.
