Warner Home Video will extend the “blu carpet” treatment to Clint Eastwood for a second time with a barrage of new releases on June 1.
How Warner is issuing several new Eastwood sets is a little confusing so pay close attention. A total of five films will be making their Blu-ray debut: The Rookie, Kelly’s Heroes, Where Eagles Dare, Heartbreak Ridge and Absolute Power. Heartbreak Ridge, Absolute Power and The Rookie will be available individually. Kelly’s Heroes and Where Eagles Dare will be combined on the same disc and package.
Available the same day will be The Clint Eastwood Collection ($149.99) that will include 10 films: The Rookie, Kelly’s Heroes, Where Eagles Dare and Absolute Power. Gran Torino, Letters from Iwo Jima, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Unforgiven and Dirty Harry. The previously available titles in this collection will receive new artwork for this release.
Rounding out the June 1 Clint Eastwood Blu-ray releases is The Enforcer and Sudden Impact on a single disc, and the Essential Eastwood: Director’s Collection ($79.98) with Letters from Iwo Jima, Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River and Unforgiven.
Jeff Baker, EVP and GM of theatrical catalogue for Warner Home Video, told Home Media Magazine that the studio is committed to Eastwood films and will eventually release all the films in the 35 Films 35 Years Eastwood DVD Collection on Blu-ray.
