Lionsgate has updated the specs for Guillermo Del Toro’s Mimic on Blu-ray. If you were excited for another Del Toro film getting the high-def treatment before, then you’ll be frothing at the mouth after this announcement.
When Mimic comes to Blu-ray on September 27, it will be in a version that you’ve never seen before. Not on DVD, television or the import Blu-ray editions floating around.
Del Toro has added back in 7 minutes of previously cut footage that “introduce subtle character moments” to what is now being referred to as the “Director’s Cut.” Or as Lionsgate is putting it, the “definitive version” of the movie.
Lionsgate has also announced a Mimic sound upgrade (but didn’t spell out exactly what that is) and the addition of another featurette to the already impressive list of newly created bonus features for Mimic’s Blu-ray debut.
