San Diego Comic-Con 2012 is where Marvel and Disney will be premiering the new Marvel One-Shot short film Item 47, due to be available to the masses on September 25 on The Avengers Blu-ray release. I’m hoping it makes its way online sooner.
To promote the screening, Marvel and Disney have released a Comic-Con exclusive Item 47 poster that picks up right where The Avengers left off. In the destroyed streets of New York City lies a Chitauri rifle atop some rubble, a weapon that will fall into the hands of a couple (Lizzy Caplan and Jesse Bradford) who would rather yield its power and partake in criminal activity than return it to S.H.I.E.L.D. authorities. Think Thelma and Louise, only with some added testosterone and a funky alien rifle.
The artwork is compelling enough to make the poster look as if it’s supporting a major theatrical release. I love the tagline, “The Avengers won the battle, but a few items were left behind.”
