Marc Wahlberg Confirmed as Nathan Drake in Uncharted Movie

MTV sat down Marc Wahlberg and confirmed that the actor has been cast as lead Nathan Drake in Sony’s big-screen adaptation of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Playstation 3 video game for the big screen.

Marc commented in the interview that writer David O. Russell is already working on the script that is based on an “insane” idea. The hope is that the script will be completed within the next few months and that production would begin next summer for a 2012 release.

Not stopping there, Wahlberg confirmed a Showbiz 411 rumor that Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci were being eyed for roles in the film. If cast the duo would be playing Drake’s father and uncle, respectively, two roles that were not part of the video game storyline.

Comments on MTV’s interview article are unanimously against Wahlberg as Drake. Fans have been championing for Nathan Fillion in the role of the charismatic adventurer since the project was first announced. Fillion just can’t seem to score a big screen role seemingly made for him.
