Lionsgate Dates Rambo: Extended Cut on Blu-ray

It took only a few days after Sylvester Stallone revealed a new director’s cut of Rambo was in the works for Lionsgate to announce its July 27 arrival exclusively on Blu-ray Disc.

Rambo: Director’s Cut (aka Rambo 4) will include 9 minutes of new footage. “He does a speech at the beginning of the movie to Julie Benz where he lays out why his life has been a complete disappointment and why war is natural and peace is an accident,” said Stallone of what’s new in an interview with Empire Online. “And how he just feels that his life has been a waste. It’s very important to hear that and I didn’t think so at the time. I’m going to go back and put in some stuff.”

Rambo: Director’s Cut will also include approximately 90 minutes of all-new bonus feature led by “RAMBO: To Hell and Back” – Sylvester Stallone’s video production diary.

On the same day, Lionsgate will release Rambo: The Complete Collection, also exclusive to Blu-ray. This four-film box set marks the first time every Rambo film has been packaged in the same set. A three-film box set on Blu-ray sans Rambo 4 has been available for some time.

Rambo: Director’s Cut on Blu-ray carries an SRP of $19.99 while the Complete Collection runs $54.99. Check back regularly for the addition of Amazon.com pre-order links and high-res cover art.
