Lionsgate has dipped deep into their catalog and pulled out some great films that will be making their Blu-ray debuts in September and October.
On September 20 you can look forward to a little goofy horror with Scary Movie 2 and Scary Movie 3: Unrated starring Anna Faris and Regina Hall on Blu-ray. Both films are coming in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio and 1080p video. Lionsgate further promises they are “loaded” with special features, but only lists “deleted scenes, featurettes and audio commentaries” as a tease. SRP is $14.99 each.
An additional four films are coming to Blu-ray on October 4. First up is Peter Jackson’s cult classic Dead Alive in celebration of the film’s 20th anniversary. The early and extremely gory Jackson zombie horror flick arrives just in time for Halloween. No word on bonus features yet, but the SRP is set at $19.98.
The Cider House Rules starring Tobey Maguire, Charlize Theron and Michael Caine will finally be making its Blu-ray debut. Bonus features will include an audio commentary with the filmmakers, a “making of” featurette and deleted scenes. SRP is $14.99.
Two Oscar-winning films round out the announcement. Life is Beautiful earned Roberto Benigni a Best Actor Academy Award win and also won for Best Music, Original Dramatic Score and Best Foreign Language Film in 1998. Cinema Paradiso took home the Best Foreign Language Film Academy Award in 1989 and will also be making its Blu-ray debut. Both films carry an SRP of $14.99.
