In conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Lionsgate has released details surrounding their 2007 slate of Blu-ray Disc titles and made no mention of going format-neutral by extending their catalog to include HD-DVD versions, despite recently partnering with Microsoft to offer downloadable high definition films on Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Marketplace. In total, Lionsgate expects to have at least 40 new titles in stores by year’s end.
The announcement offers the first confirmation of previously delayed ‘American Psycho,’ ‘Rambo: First Blood,’ ‘Reservoir Dogs‘ and ‘Young Guns‘ for a February 6 release. Additional undated films include ‘Ultimate Avengers‘ and ‘Ultimate Avengers 2,’ ‘House of 1000 Corpses,’ ‘National Lampoon’s Van Wilder,’ ‘Waiting,’ ‘Requiem for a Dream,’ ‘Pi‘ ‘Cabin Fever,’ ‘Monster’s Ball,’ ‘Dune,’ ‘Basic Instinct, ‘Dirty Dancing‘ and ‘Belly.’
In addition, Lionsgate will bring two of their high profile television properties to Blu-ray, ‘Weeds‘ and ‘The Dead Zone.’ Lets hope they buck the trend and start from season one.
