NBC has elected not to pick up the back nine episodes of ‘Undercovers,’ effectively putting an end to the freshman show’s short run.
Last night’s episode of ‘Undercovers’ could only muster 5.8 million viewers, a series low since the show debuted a couple month ago. The poor rating was the final straw that left NBC little choice but to cancel any additional episodes. The remaining six episodes already produced are still expected to air.
NBC had high hopes for ‘Undercovers,’ starring Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Mr. and Mrs. Bloom, after winning a bidding war for the J.J. Abrams conceived concept last year. The show bears a resemblance to James Cameron’s True Lies movie which is being developed into a television series by Lightstorm and Twentieth Century Fox TV.
