J.J. Abrams Delivers Sliver of First Star Trek: Into Darkness Footage

J.J. Abrams Delivers Sliver of First Star Trek: Into Darkness FootageJ.J. Abrams has been hard at work on his second Trek film, Star Trek: Into Darkness, for some time now. Aside from some spy set images that’s exactly what we have been about the project: in the dark. We don’t even know the villain’s name that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing yet.

This past Friday Abrams was a guest on Conan and brought with him a surprise. It’s a surprise that he apparently fought hard to share. It’s three quick frames from Star Trek: Into Darkness, our first “tease” of what’s to come.

Three frames is a blink-and-you-miss-it tease so I have taken the liberty of sharing a screenshot of what was shared below. In it you will see Spock (Zachary Quinto) walking in a volcano, spacesuit and all. And that’s it. Something is better than nothing, right?

Star Trek: Into Darkness starring Quinto, Cumberbatch as the big bad, Chris Pine, and the rest of the returning Enterprise crew will come into light on May 13, 2013. Maybe the Super Bowl will deliver some more substantial footage to dissect.
