Early studio estimates are pegging Christopher Nolan’s Inception to bring in between $18 and $20 million at the domestic box office on Friday for Warner Bros., including $3 million from midnight screenings.
It remains tough to call where Inception will end up through its first weekend on Sunday. If there’s a considerable drop on Saturday and Sunday then it might struggle to top $40 million. If word of mouth is positive and audiences “get” the movie enough to put additional butts in the seats then a $60 million or more total is not out of the realm of possibility.
