HBO has officially renewed True Blood for a fourth season, great news for fans of the show who are just digging their teeth into season 3.
The announcement comes a week after the current season’s premiere lured 5.1 million viewers, an impressive 38% jump from the season 2 premiere. The second episode must have also produced excellent viewership for HBO to extend the show another season within hours after it debuting.
“The new season of True Blood is off to a terrific start, as enthusiasm for this unique show continues to build among both subscribers and critics,” boasted HBO president Michael Lombardo about the announcement. “We’re looking forward to more chills from Alan Ball and his gifted team next year.”
If True Blood continues to increase its fan base as this year goes on, count on a fifth season to be booked around this time next year.
