HBO’s growing stable of critically acclaimed original series are some of the most sought after Blu-ray titles. With one season of The Sopranos and recently released Band of Brothers in the books, there are still many, many more waiting in the wings.
The economy’s current state casts doubt on any additional HBO sets making their way to Blu-ray due to price concerns for an entire season worth of episodes. Thanks to a tip from an HDR reader, we’ve come to learn online retailer Amazon.com may have spilled the beans on HBO’s Blu-ray intentions in 2009.
Per a listing at Amazon, the HBO miniseries John Adams starring Paul Giamatti is not only been sent to retailers as an upcoming Blu-ray release, but Amazon is already taking active pre-orders with a list price of $79.98 and a pre-order price of $59.99. You can click here to view the page or secure your pre-order copy immediately.
Unfortunately little else is known about this title and HBO as clearly not made an official announcement or commented. The listing going active, much in the same way Firefly: The Complete Series did earlier this year, bodes well for John Adams to arrive on Blu-ray in the first half of 2009.
