HBO’s TCA presentation yielded a ton of news for its upcoming 2014 shows, including a precise Game of Thrones Season 4 release date and when exactly the next trailer, and presumably first with actual footage that isn’t in a montage with other shows, will drop.
The Game of Thrones Season 4 release date is set for Sunday, April 6 at 9/8c, followed by the Season 3 premiere of Veep. Season 4 of GoT is expected to roughly cover the second half of George R.R. Martin’s third book in his ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series, ‘A Storm of Swords,’ though could dip into the fourth book as well depending on how showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have structured the new season’s narrative compared to the books.
Headlining the cast list for Season 4 of Game of Thrones are Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Kit Harington, Natalie Dormer, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner.
We’ll get our first full trailer for Game of Thrones Season 4 this upcoming Sunday at 8:58pm, immediately preceding the debut of True Detective at 9pm. To date the only official footage from Game of Thrones Season 4 totaled less than five seconds and was part of an HBO 2014 sizzle reel.
The new Game of Thrones Season 4 trailer will be posted online immediately after it premieres on HBO, and we’ll certainly be sharing it along as soon as it is available.
