HBO today finally broke their silence on The Newsroom today and renewed the series for a third season, which will also happen to be its last, nearly four months after the Season 2 finale.
Season 3 of The Newsroom will go into production this spring and premiere this fall. Returning to wrap up the three-season run of Aaron Sorkin’s cable news-set drama are Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Dev Patel and Olivia Munn.
Joining The Newsroom for Season 3 and serving as an executive producer is Paul Lieberstein of The Office fame.
“The Newsroom is classic Aaron Sorkin – smart, riveting and thought-provoking,” Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming regarding the pickup. “I’m sure this farewell season will be one to remember.”
