While Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim gobbles up big box office returns overseas and especially in China, and its star Charlie Hunnam grabs the lead in Fifty Shades of Grey, Warner Bros. has announced a relatively close October 15 release date for the mega monster and robot film on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.
Pacific Rim, which also stars Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day, had a hard time finding its footing at the box office in North America and only just recently crossed the $100 million mark. Overseas has been a different story where the estimated $190 million big budget tentpole has earned $304 million to push its worldwide gross total to over $400 million.
The skyscraper-sized Jaegers (robots) and Kaiju (alien monsters) demand a monstrous home video release and Warner Bros. is looking to provide just that. The film will be presented in 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. A meaty collection of bonus features include the following:
