Heroes may be struggling in the ratings department, but that does not necessarily mean the show is on its last legs and about to be canned.
EW’s Michael Ausiello of The Ausiello Files caught up with Greg Grunberg aka mind reader/controller Matt Parkman on Heroes and asked him about the future of the show. “We wrapped yesterday and the [final episode] is nowhere near a series finale,” Grunberg offered, giving the first evidence that Heroes will go on.
Grunberg went on to assert his stance about the future of Heroes by further referencing the season four finale, “It is cliffhanger-y and exciting, but it is nowhere near an end to a series that people are so invested in. It does not tie everything up in a neat bow… I don’t have any doubt that the show will be back.”
A full order of Heroes for season five would put it over 100 episodes, the magic number for syndication. Also, as Grunberg also points out, Heroes performs well on home video and especially in overseas markets.
Greg ended his chat with Ausiello by confirming he will appear in the season 6 premiere of Lost as the Oceanic 815 pilot who was eaten by the Smoke Monster. Will an identical fate await?
