Sony’s Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3 is the hottest thing going in the video game world this upcoming holiday season if you look past the imminent arrival of PS4 and Xbox One. How hot? Yesterday Amazon.com and GameStop began taking pre-orders for the game with some nifty exclusives, and at Amazon the game shot right to the top of the Movers and Shakers chart in video games.
The key to deciding where to place your pre-order for Gran Turismo 6 lies within your desire for cash and choice or predetermined cars. Before I break down what each retailer is offering exclusively, let’s take a look at what both are offering for all pre-order customers.
Whether your Gran Turismo 6 pre-order is locked in at Amazon or GameStop, you will receive these four cars as a DLC pack when the game launches: BMW Z4 GT3 ’11, Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ’13, Tesla Model S Signature Performance ’13, and the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) ’14. Pictures of each car are below in all their high pixel count glory.
The Gran Turismo 6 Amazon pre-order exclusive also includes a $1 Million in-game credit that can be used to purchase any car or upgrade that falls within that budget. You probably won’t be able to buy too many high end cars at that price, but you can surely trick out several rides without breaking the bank.
The Gran Turismo 6 GameStop pre-order exclusive is all about the cars, 16 of them to be exact. They are part of what GameStop is calling the Gran Turismo 6 15th Anniversary Edition. Here’s a breakdown of all 16 cars exclusive to GameStop (you would still get the other four shared with Amazon as well totaling 20 cars):
- Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale ’11
- Alpine A110 1600S ’68
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage ’10
- Audi R8 LMS ultra (Audi Sport Team Phoenix) #3 ’12
- Ford Focus ST ’13
- Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ’13
- Honda weider HSV-010 (SUPER GT) ’11
- KTM X-BOW R
- Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 ’11
- Lexus IS F Racing Concept ’08
- Lotus Europa (type54) ’68
- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 ’11
- Renault Sport Megane Trophy V6 Race Car ’11
- SRT Viper GTS ’13
- TRD 86 Racing ’08
- Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 Race Car ’08
As far as the Gran Turismo 6 release date for PS3, Sony hasn’t provided one as of yet other than to say it will be out before the year’s over. It would seem to be in Sony’s best interest to get Gran Turismo 6 into stores before PS4 arrives as to let this big new installment in the signature racing series have a little time to bask in the sun before all heads swivel in the direction of next-gen.
