Gemma Arterton to Meet Ridley Scott Regarding Alien Prequels Role

Ridley Scott’s mentions of his upcoming Alien prequel films continually reference the Space Jockey from the original Alien. He’s yet to really discuss how humans will figure into the plot, or whether a character will be introduced to follow in the heroine footsteps of Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley.

Gemma Arterton of Clash of the Titans and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time recently told the Sunday Times that she will soon be meeting with Scott to discuss a role in the Alien prequels. This suggests Scott is looking to invent another tough female character to survive what Scott has called “really tough, really nasty” movies.

Apparently Gemma’s performance in The Disappearance of Alice Creed caught Scott’s eye and elevated his interest. Even if she’s cast, there’s been no mention of when the two Alien prequels will begin production or be released theatrically.
