Gears of War 3 is not coming to Xbox 360 on April 8, 2011.
In a crushing announcement to Xbox 360 games this morning via Twitter, Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games confirmed rumors that Gears of War 3 has been delayed until “holiday 2011.” It will now likely become the tent pole holiday release for Xbox 360 in either October or November.
In making the announcement, Cliff promised that more news lies ahead and it should help brighten the now somber mood. “News incoming shortly that will be quite the silver lining,” he said. “Have faith. :)”
I can of three things that would be “quite the silver lining” in lieu of this delay. Those guesses are Kinect support for Gears of War 3 to match Move support for KillZone 3; Microsoft announcing a 3D gaming initiative and confirming Gears of War 3 will be a part of it; or a green light on a Gears of War film whose production would begin around the time Gears of War 3 hits stores. If I were a betting man then my money would be on door number one.
