GDC: Gears of War 2 on Xbox 360 in November, First Look Cover Art

Microsoft and Epic Games have confirmed what we’ve suspected for many moons now: Gears of War 2 is not only a reality, but it’ll be in stores before the year is out. It will also be exclusive to Xbox 360.

The official announcement came at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC) where a November time frame was given for the game’s release. Two versions will be released: a standard version, and a limited edition version with special making-of material.

Aside from being an obvious sequel and featuring Marcus Fenix and Delta Squad in a story of “survival, loss and retribution,” little is known about what new elements Gears of War 2 will offer to the now “franchise.” We’ll be sure to pass along any new information and the first in-game screenshots as soon as they become available.

“To our team the original game was just a tease, the appetizer to the Gears of War characters and new style of gameplay. We were so amped to get to the next chapter, and dig deeper into the universe of this franchise,” said Cliff Bleszinski, lead designer for Epic Games. “Gears of War 2 is an even bigger, better, and more badass experience than the first game, and we can’t wait to get it in the hands of eager gamers this November.”
