Fox has released a new footage-less teaser for the final season of Fringe that recalls a peek into the future seen in Season 4.
The Observers are coming in Season 5, and they won’t be hidden like Waldos like almost every other episode of the J.J. Abrams-produced series. As the teaser reminds us from the voice of Walter Bishop, the Observers destroyed earth in 2609 and have traveled back to the past for a mulligan at the expense of our time.
We got a glimpse of the Observers’ plans in the season 4 episode ‘Letters of Transit’ that fast-forwarded 20ish years into the future and found the Fringe team frozen in amber and Olivia’s daughter fighting for earth. That sneak peek into earth’s future was likely a sneak peek into where we can expect Season 5 to venture.
Production on Fringe: Season 5 was delayed recently after star John Noble had to seek treatment for a sleep disorder. He’s been given a clean bill of health and the production of the final season of Fringe is moving forward.
