‘Fringe’ Ratings Dip on Return; New Promo Arrives

Fox’s ‘Fringe’ dipped to a series low in both total viewers and in the 18-49 demo after returning from a two-week hiatus.

The latest episode, ‘Lysergic Acid Diethylamide,’ featured an extended animated sequence and homages to sci-fi films like Inception and The Matrix. It drew 3.6 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demo. ‘Fringe’ had been running around a 1.5 to 1.6 and just under 4 million total viewers prior to the hiatus.

Part of the blame can definitely be attributed to the hiatus, though there’s also a chance that massive storms in the southeast cut power for many and impact ratings as well. Those who missed it will likely be catching up via Hulu or other streaming means, an area where ‘Fringe’ has already performed strongly. Not that the ratings matter much right now. Fox has already given the go-ahead for a full season four order of ‘Fringe.’

The return of ‘Fringe’ also brought about an excellent new promotional trailer setting up the season finale. Check it out below.
