Fox’s Mindy Kaling Project and Ben and Kate Comedy Trailers Debut

Fox's Mindy Kaling Project and Ben and Kate Comedy Trailers DebutMindy Kaling is saying goodbye to her acting, writing and producing duties on NBC’s The Office to create and launch her own new series, The Mindy Project, on Fox this fall for the 2012-2013 season.

Monday during upfronts, Fox officially slated The Mindy Project into its Tuesday lineup where it will join renewed comedies New Girl and Raising Hope, as well as fellow comedy newcomer Ben and Kate. The four will form a two-hour block of half-hour comedies.

In The Mindy Project, Mindy plays OB/GYN Mindy Lahiri, introduced as a jealous young lady who leaves a former ex-boyfriend’s wedding with a bottle of booze and ends up riding a bicycle into a swimming pool, complete with hallucinating that a Barbie doll is talking to her. She’s a mess on many levels and only wants a man to settle down with. But before she finds Mr. Right, she’ll have to get her own act and life together first.

Seen in the first The Mindy Project footage is fellow The Office co-worker Ed Helms in what appears to be a cameo role as a date Mindy ends up sending mixed signals to. Where Mindy will find her best chance of getting lucky is at the medical practice where fellow doctors Jeremy Reed (Ed Weeks) and Danny Castellano (Chris Messina) are on the prowl for sex and stealing patients.

Also co-starring in The Mindy Project and helping to fill out the practice are Anna Camp, Dana DeLorenzo and Zoe Jarman.

Below are the first trailers for Mindy Kaling’s The Mindy Project as well as Ben and Kate starring Dakota Johnson, Nat Faxo and Maggie Jones. Ben and Kate will air on Tuesdays at 8:30pm, while The Mindy Project will get its turn a little later in the 9:30pm time slot.
