Hot off the heels of this morning’s Paramount and Dreamworks Animation HD DVD exclusitivity announcement, we’ve learned through trusted sources that Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is gearing up to re-enter the Blu-ray game with several title announcements this afternoon. The last Fox or MGM title released on Blu-ray Disc was ‘A Night At The Museum,’ all the way back in April.
Which titles? When will they come out? These are questions we should know the answer to in a couple hours or so. Given the impact of HD DVD snaring both ‘Shrek the Third’ and ‘Transformers,’ I’d be shocked if the Fox announcement didn’t kick off a title starting with “Live” and ending in “Hard.”
The holiday high definition home video battle is certainly underway. It looks like if you want to own all the hot releases, you’ll need to play in both the HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc pool.
Check back regularly over the next few hours for the full scoop, which is sure to be a doozie!
