Taken is now officially on the Blu-ray Disc release calendar as Fox formally announced the Liam Neeson thriller today for a day-and-date May 12 release with DVD.
Taken on Blu-ray will be presented in a new extended cut running featuring an additional two minutes seamlessly branched into the theatrical cut with a 2.4:1 aspect ratio and 1080p resolution.
The press release states 5.1 Dolby Digital audio for Blu-ray though I am inclined to believe that is a typo and the author meant 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. I will update this article once Fox clarifies the spec.
Bonus features are run-of-the-mill with no Blu-ray exclusives and a digital copy comprising disc two’s contents. The full list is as follows:
- Extended Cut seamlessly branched with Audio commentary with Director Pierre Morel, Writer Robert Mark Kamen, and Cinematographers Michel Abramowicz and Michel Julienne
- Exclusive Le ‘Making Of’ featurette
- Inside Action: Side by Side Comparisons of:
- Peter Dies
- Bryan Escapes Construction Site
- Good Luck
- The Interrogation
- Bryan at Saint Clair’s
- Boat Fight
- Black OPS Field Manual
- Avant Premiere
