First Blu-ray owners were up in arms over Fox’s decision not to include ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ in the upcoming Blu-ray Disc box set and not offer the first three Die Hard titles as standalone releases. Then they screamed for a lynching after learning ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ would be the PG-13 theatrical cut and not the unrated cut, which standard DVD will be receiving.
Although ‘Live Free and Die Hard’ will remain the theatrical cut, Fox has reworked the Trilogy box set to include all four films, now dubbing it the ‘Die Hard Collection.’ This four-disc set will carry a lofty SRP of $129.98 which, while expensive, is $40 less than buying each film individually.
Wait a second. We can’t buy the first three Die Hards individually, can we? Fox has also changed their plans and will release ‘Die Hard,’ ‘Die Hard 2: Die Harder’ and ‘Die Hard With a Vengeance’ as standalone releases alongside ‘Live Free or Die Hard’ with SRPs of $39.98.
