Fox Plotting a Bones Spin-Off Based on ‘The Locator’ Book Series

Deadline is reporting that Fox is planning a Bones spin-off based on ‘The Locator’ book series by author Richard Greener.

Bones’ creator and executive producer Hart Hanson will also work on the spin-off if it comes to fruition. The current plan is for Walter Sherman, the “locator” character, to be introduced in the December 6 episode of Bones. He will be written to have served in Iraq with Booth (David Boreanaz) but the two will hate each other when they reunite. Bones (Emily Deschanel), however, will be intrigued by Sherman’s “eccentric, obstreperous and amusing reclusive” behavior that allows him to have a knack for finding things. In other words, he sounds like what you’d expect the child of Bones and House to be.

Even though Fox will plant the Sherman character into at least one episode of Bones does not mean he’s assured a spin-off series. The ratings and reaction to his character will help determine whether Fox is willing to make an investment and move forward. The character has yet to be cast.
