Although Fox Home Entertainment has already confirmed work on a Blu-ray Disc version of the short-lived series Firefly is underway, they gave no indication as to when it might find its way into our homes.
Today, the first piece of the puzzle has been found in the form of an active pre-order for Firefly: The Complete Series on Blu-ray at Amazon.com.
The pre-order shows a list price of $89.98, with Amazon’s street price a more affordable $62.95.
This listing begs the question: when exactly is Firefly going to show up on Blu-ray? My best guess is this pre-order signals a 2008 rather than 2009 arrival. October or November sounds like a good time, don’t you think?
We’re also going to keep our fingers crossed that Universal can time the release of Serenity on Blu-ray to coincide with Firefly. Sound marketing practices tell us they will, and we’ll scoop it up in a heartbeat — especially now that Universal has adopted DTS-HD Master Audio for the majority of its upcoming Blu-ray releases.
