Count me up as one of last night’s Losties who completely forgot the “new” episode was actually an hour worth of recap.
The real new episode will be a milestone maker when it airs next Wednesday. Episode #100 sees the return of Daniel Faraday after a mysterious hiatus who, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will finally spill the beans on everything he knows about the island.
THR is also reporting that ABC plans to use the 100th Lost episode to begin promoting Lost’s possible eventual time slot and genre heir, Fast Forward. Mysterious promos that appear tied to Lost are expected to direct viewers to a website where they’ll begin to learn about Fast Forward.
Though ABC has yet to officially confirm Fast Forward is on the fall slate, the sci-fi tinged drama penned by filmmaker David S. Goyer and Star Trek vet Brannon Braga has been a hot topic at the studio. Joseph Fiennes is already on board to star in the series based on Robert J. Sawyer’s sci-fi novel that deals with the aftermath of a mysterious global event in which the entire world’s population blacks out for 2 minutes, 17 seconds and then awakens with a mysterious vision of the future.
With Lost entering its final season next fall, Fast Forward seems to be the logical replacement if it can feed off of Lost’s likely elevated viewership as the story approaches an end game. Hopefully the promos lend more insight into what ABC has planned.
