Anakin’s transition to the Dark Side of the Force makes an appearance in a new extended trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 4.
A battle for Mon Calamari between Separatist and Republic forces kicks off the trailer, showcasing underwater action unseen in George Lucas’ universe since Genndy Tartakovsky’s stylized take on the Clone Wars several years ago. Admiral Ackbar is easy to spot, and if showrunner Dave Filoni wants to send the shows fans into a tizzy, he’ll have the good Admiral utter the famous line “It’s a Trap!”
From Mon Calamari the trailer cuts between many episodes that will see the heroes traveling to all sorts of mysterious new worlds. There are several new characters interspersed in the trailer, but you might need a quick finger on the pause button to spot them all.
The trailer suggests Anakin’s emotions will begin to get the best of him and those closest to him take notice of his inability to show restraint. Whether his actions lead to the demise of Padawan Ahsoka Tano, a character who does not exist in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, remains to be seen.
Season 4 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars will kick off with a one-hour premiere on Friday, September 16 at 8/7 central on the Cartoon Network.
