Eastwood’s next film has a date. That means we should all stand up and take notice.
This morning, Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed Invictus is coming to theaters on December 11 which puts it in an Oscar fueled head-to-head battle with Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.
Invictus focuses on the true story of Nelson Mandela’s (Morgan Freeman) efforts to bring his torn country together by rallying behind South Africa’s underdog rugby team lead by captain Francois Pienaar (Matt Damon) on their run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match.
Formerly titled The Human Factor, Invictus was shot entirely in and around the the cities of Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. When it comes to authenticity, I am certain Eastwood would have shot Invictus no other way.
