The absence of ‘Fable 2’ from Microsoft’s Keynote last night doesn’t mean there isn’t any new media or information available from E3. Microsoft has quietly released the first major features for the upcoming Xbox 360 sequel, the first in-game screenshots, and pegged a target date of sometime in 2008 — most likely the latter half.
‘Fable 2’ will take place 500 years after the events in the original ‘Fable.’ Players will once again travel the world of Albion, only this time, they’ll take along a canine companion who will serve as a friend, compass and protector. That is, if the pooch is fed regularly. A hungry pooch won’t make the best companion.
‘Fable 2’ will also feature a new robust combat system that allows mixing of combat styles between hand weapons, long-range weapons and magic. Other features will include limited choices and consequences, such as the ability to be male or female, marry, have kids and raise a family.
