The first trailer for Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial Blu-ray release has been officially released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. It offers us our first glimpse into the big fall release, but stops short of delivering a concrete release date.
Spielberg has gone on record as saying the Blu-ray edition of E.T. would be unaltered from the theatrical version. That would imply the later change that replaced FBI agent rifles with phones would be eliminated. The 0:25 second mark of the trailer confirms just that. p> The E.T. Blu-ray trailer also tells us that the film has been digitally remastered from the original 35mm film print, and will be presented in a new 7.1 audio track that is more than likely DTS-HD Master Audio. Also expect “hours of bonus features” that have yet to be outlined.
I will pass along updates regarding this 30th anniversary release of E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, which also happens to correspond with Universal’s 100th anniversary as a studio, as they become available.
