DVDPlay Rental Kiosks to Add Blu-ray in June

DVD rental kiosk operator DVDPlay has announced plans to rent Blu-ray Disc titles alongside DVD at their kiosks beginning in early June. They will be the first rental kiosk operator to offer Blu-ray product.

A sampling of the first titles include Untraceable and Men in Black, the former expected to be available for rental as early as June 10. Men in Black should be available on or shortly after its June 17 street date.

Blu-ray titles at DVDPlay kiosks will carry the same $1.49 rental charge as DVDs, leveling the playing field for consumers looking for the best bang for their buck.

Rental kiosks continue to gain momentum for DVD while overall sales continue to stagnate. The addition of Blu-ray Disc to the kiosks should help draw attention and help Blu-ray’s publishers boost awareness and slow sales.

Amazon.com is doing their part to move Blu-ray titles by offering a new summer promotion with over 100 titles discounted up to 50% off list price (browse all titles).
