Drive (2011) with Ryan Gosling and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 with Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart on Blu-ray, neither of which are available yet in stores, are in a heated battle according to Amazon.com’s Blu-ray bestsellers chart.
A couple hours ago, I noticed Drive on Blu-ray had finally ascended into the number one spot on Amazon’s hourly updated bestsellers chart, the first time I’d seen it there since it has been lingering in the top 10 for weeks. With tons of critical praise and a price under $20, it’s not hard to see why there’s so much interest in it.
Whether by girl power or something else, Breaking Dawn Part 1 has managed to nudge past Drive and take back the top spot it has held intermittently since going up for pre-order. Twilight fans love their films, even in high definition.
Call it the battle of the sexes or whatever you want, but it should be interesting to see if Drive can reach the top again as it nears its January 31 release date. Breaking Dawn doesn’t arrive until February 11.
