Online retailer DVDEmpire.com has revealed Fox Home Entertainment intends to release a direct-to-video Donnie Darko sequel on April 28 simultaneously on Blu-ray Disc and DVD.
S. Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale will be set 7 years after the events of Donnie Darko. Donnie’s sister, Samantha, and her best friend find themselves stranded in a small desert town. Before long, apocalyptic visions of the future begin to haunt Samantha putting her in a position to save the world and herself.
Judging by the cover art, which you can enlarge by clicking through the disc details below, the infamous Rabbit from Donnie Darko is set to return. Here’s hoping he plays an even bigger role this time around.
We’ll have more details on S. Darko after Fox makes a formal announcement. The trailer is set to premiere at the New York Comic-Con this weekend.
