Update: Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure is now available for pre-order at Amazon.com for $27.99. Click here to secure your copy.
When Disney first unveiled Tinker Bell as a standalone brand they committed to no less than three direct-to-video films starting with last fall’s Tinker Bell on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. To this day my daughter still requests me to put on Tinker Bell multiple times per week.
Almost exactly a year later, Disney will roll out the sequel, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, also on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. A trailer for this release can be seen on current Disney Blu-ray titles like Bolt.
Disney’s Blu-ray strategy has evolved since Tinker Bell was released which is reflected in Lost Treasure. Rather than including a digital copy, Disney will be packing in the entire DVD edition of the film.
Earlier today Disney announced Snow White on Blu-ray Disc would arrive in stores seven weeks before the DVD version. You can still pick up the DVD version early but only packaged with the Blu-ray combo pack.
The same might hold true for Lost Treasure. Right now the street date is set for October 27 for both Blu-ray and DVD but there’s still an outside chance the Blu-ray version will move up if Disney continues to “tinker” with their strategy.
On the technical side, Lost Treasure will be offered in 1.78:1 1080p video and 5.1 48kHz/24-bit uncompressed audio.
Bonus features are scheudled to be identical between Blu-ray and DVD with the exception of BD-Live access on Blu-ray. The complete list is as follows.
- DVD version
- Deleted scenes with filmmaker introductions
- Fairy Bloopers
- Magical Guide to Pixie Hollow – explore during Autumn
- Pixie Preview – an exclusive animated vignette
- Pixie Hollow Comes to Florida – transforming Epcot Center into Pixie Hollow
- BD-Live
Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure on Blu-ray will retail for $39.99. Check out the cover art below, slated to include an O-Sleeve, and be on the lookout for Amazon.com pre-order information in the weeks ahead.
