Recently I reported a potential June 11 release date for Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful on Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD. Hot on the heels of that comes word from scooper Josh that Amazon.com is currently taking pre-orders for the home video release of Sam Raimi’s prequel to The Wizard of Oz.
Matching with the earlier report, there will be three versions of Oz The Great and Powerful on Blu-ray to choose from. From cheapest to most expensive there is a single-disc Blu-ray edition, a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack edition, and the big daddy Blu-ray 3D combo with Blu-ray and DVD. Each Blu-ray version of the film will be presented in 1080p video and 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
Oz The Great and Powerful stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz. Further details such as bonus features and a finalized release date will not be available until closer to the release.
Oddly enough, Amazon is offering the same pre-order price for the Blu-ray combo and the Blu-ray 3D combo. At least they are eliminating the choice factor when placing a pre-order.
