Dexter Morgan has dug himself some deep holes in the past, but the path he’s headed down now will be difficult to recover from. In the last episode of Dexter ‘Buck the System,’ Dexter identified a potential killer and alerted Deb that he intended to extinguish the threat. Deb did not agree and nearly paid for her decision with her life. As a result, a young girl ended up dead and now Deb is starting to understand why Dexter does what he does. The legal way, the “system,” doesn’t always work.
Speaking of death, Dexter doesn’t even know yet that the thorn in his side Louis has been murdered by Isaac. What’s worse, Isaac is now onto Dexter as a killer and will begin tracking him in an attempt to seek revenge or possibly worse. Maybe it’s a good thing that Deb has kicked Dexter out of her place and allowed him some room to breath. Dexter’s dark passenger may be the only thing capable of keeping him alive.
Last week we met Hannah McKay, the ex-girlfriend and accomplice of a recently deceased serial killer. Dexter shared a “moment” with her when he first met her, and will be meeting her again this week. She’s clearly got her own “dark” issues going on. The question is how that will affect Dexter and what her purpose will be in his life in the near future.
The continuing story this week will be the fate of Ray Speltzer, the serial killer that nearly offed Deb, killed a girl and is still on the lose. He will be back and in the cross-hairs of both Deb and Dexter. I’m thinking Deb gives Dexter the green light to send him to the bottom of the sea. The guilt she must have about not acting that resulted in that girl’s death must be unbearable.
