Following and confirming insider reports from four days ago, earlier today Showtime formally announced they will renew Dexter for a sixth season and commence production this upcoming spring in Los Angeles.
The announcement comes on the heels of the show scoring 2.54 million viewers with the tenth episode of season five, the second highest all-time for the series just behind last season’s finale which drew 2.57 million. Season five’s premiere mustered 1.77 million viewers marking a 43% uptick in viewership from the season’s beginnings to its closing chapters.
Sadly there is only one episode left to air in season five, ‘The Big One,’ which will debut and likely dazzle us this upcoming Sunday. You can watch a pair of preview clips from the big finale right here.
