Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Domestic and International Trailers Start a War

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Domestic and International Trailers Start a WarApes and humans reunite for the first time in a decade in the latest trailer for Fox’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Actually make that two trailers since an International version dropped today as well that has several alternate scene snippets throughout.

The new Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailers depict a world ravaged by the simian flu that first began to spread at the conclusion of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. In the woods outside San Francisco, Caesar has erected an ape community that is thriving while humans try to stave off extinction at the hands of the deadly flu.

Tensions are high when the apes and humans encounter one another in the woods, and it becomes painfully obvious that these two species are ultimately incapable of living together. There appears to be attempts at unifying the species, including a touching moment with Keri Russell’s character and a baby ape, and one between Jason Clarke’s character and an incredibly photo-realistic Caesar, but ultimately earth becomes “Planet of the Apes” and not “Planet of Humans and Apes.”

The final shot shows an ape army marching through the ruins of San Francisco in a scene that takes us one step closer toward “Planet of the Apes.” That could be the closing shot of the film and I think we’d all be happy.
