CW Grants Quick Renewals to The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210

CW Grants Quick Renewals to The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210Ratings darlings The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210 have each earned early renewals from the CW that will extend each series into the 2012-2013 season.

The Vampire Diaries starring Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev has successfully secured its fourth season with no visible signs of slowing down. The supernatural-tinged drama has been the strongest performer for the CW over the past few seasons, and is expected to last well beyond five, six or even seven seasons barring the lost of a key cast member.

Supernatural continues to perform respectably on its tough Friday air date, consistently beating out Fox’s equally “out of the ordinary” series Fringe in the same time slot. It’s hard to imagine, but the next season of Supernatural will be its eighth.

90210 will enter its fifth season in the fall has ratings continue to hold strong and steady for the rebooted series.

Though the CW has quickly picked up The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural and 90210, there are still many shows sitting anxiously on the proverbial bubble. There’s a big outcry for Nikita to be renewed, which I fully expect it to be. Also awaiting their fate are Gossip Girl, Hart of Dixie, The Secret Circle and Ringer.

Those shows will be competing with numerous pilots in the works including frontrunners Beauty and the Beast, The Carrie Diaries, The Selection and Arrow.
