Comic-Con: Lost Headed Back to the Future?

What may or may not be the final Lost panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con had fans camping out upwards of 24 hours in line for a chance to catch a whiff of what’s in store for the show’s sixth and final season in a hall normally reserved for huge movie panels.

Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse came prepared for the thousands of Lost devotees, willing to drop a few hints but no real major revelations or even a snippet of footage. The following quotes come courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.

“There’s a good chance you’ll be seeing many characters you haven’t seen since the first season again,” Cuse offered.” “(In the first season, the characters) were running around the jungle, things felt intense and surprising. We have a way that we’re going to be able to do that in the final season, too.”

Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet Burke) and Jeremy Davies (Daniel Faraday) were confirmed to be returning in the panel, neither of whom were expected back based on the events that transpired in season five.

Lindelof promised time travel and flash forwards both retired with the bomb detonation in season five’s finale. Something “new” is coming in season six which would theoretically rule out flashbacks.

If these hints don’t match up with any theories you’ve concocted for Lost’s answers, you’re just going to have to put faith in the show’s creative minds. “Just trust us,” added Cuse, which is about all we can do while the final Lost season is pieced together for its early 2010 premiere.
