Captain America: The First Avenger Trailer Deploys Early

As early as this afternoon we were led to believe Paramount would release Marvel’s first movie trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger tomorrow. In a present to fans, the trailer hit this evening and lives up to the hype.

The Captain America trailer seemingly incorporates the entire Super Bowl spot and mixes in much more of pre-Super Soldier Syrum Steve Rogers and some great action shots of Chris Evans as Cap including the first shield toss and catch (not necessarily in that order). Noticeably absent is any prolonged Red Skull presence which adds to villain’s mystery. I’d be ecstatic if Paramount managed to skimp on promoting Red Skull right up until the film’s release.

What I love about the trailer is the vintage World War II-era look and feel Joe Johnston described in earlier interviews has been successfully interpreted into the finished product. Johnston made a comparison to his Captain America film feeling a lot like Steven Spielberg’s Indiana Jones films. The trailer certainly gives off that swashbuckling and energetic vibe complete with the improbable kiss while standing in a speeding open top car.

I’ll check back in soon with some high-res screen caps from the Captain America: The First Avenger trailer so you can get a better look at a few of the key new scenes revealed.
