Camelot Canceled After One Season

Starz has decided not to order a second season of Camelot, their original series starring Jamie Campbell Bower as King Arthur, Joseph Feinnes as Merlin and Eva Green as sorceress Morgan.

According to sources within Starz, the freshman show was canceled due to “significant production challenges.” Those challenges included shooting in Ireland and scheduling conflicts with the show’s stars.

Camelot opened big for Starz with 1.5 million viewers, then trailed off as the season wore on. It saw an increase in viewership as the final episodes played out, offering hope that Starz would continue the story of how King Arthur grew from a boy king into a man and a legend.

For Feinnes, Camelot marks the second consecutive show he’s starred in that has been canceled after a single season. Feinnes played the male lead in ABC’s FlashForward a little over a year ago.

The first and only season of Camelot has already been announced for Blu-ray and DVD by Anchor Bay Entertainment with a September 13 release date.
