AMC’s Breaking Bad faced stiff competition for its penultimate episode on Sunday night and still managed to set a new series high in the ratings.
The episode ‘Granite State’ pulled in 6.6 million total viewers on Sunday, eclipsing the previous series high set a week ago at 6.4 million viewers. It also set a series high in the 18-49 demo with a 3.4 rating, a spectacular number for any television series, much less one on cable.
What’s amazing about the Breaking Bad ratings this past Sunday is the show was up against not only Showtime’s Dexter series finale that capped eight years of that series, but also the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards. Yet Breaking Bad ratings still increased in the face of other big events instead of retreating a little.
Next Sunday’s Breaking Bad series finale is all but guaranteed to set new series ratings highs across the board as millions tune in to learn the ultimate fate of Walter White and his family.
