Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight pulled off a small upset this weekend by inching out a win over The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor according to estimates at Box Office Mojo.
The Dark Knight raked in $43.8 million in its third weekend versus $42.45 million for third Mummy film in its debut.
All told, The Dark Knight’s cum stands at a whopping $394,887,000 with the $400 million barrier sure to topple by Monday evening.
Elsewhere in the top 10, Step Brothers continued a strong showing by nabbing the #3 spot with $16.3 million. At $63 million total, it should surpass its $65 million budget early this week.
On the other end of the spectrum is the X-Files sequel whose brief stint in the top ten is unlikely to carry into next weekend.
