Blue Velvet Blu-ray to Feature Over 50 Minutes of Lost Footage

MGM today confirmed what we’ve known for weeks. On November 8, David Lynch’s Blue Velvet starring Kyle MacLachlan and Dennis Hopper will make its Blu-ray debut.

The strategy behind Blue Velvet coming to Blu-ray now is the film is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. With the important milestone comes some news Blue Velvet fans will be ecstatic to learn.

First, Lynch himself supervised the high definition transfer and color correction for the Blu-ray debut. It’s got his seal of approval which means it should look exactly as the director intends.

What I’m most looking forward to are over 50 minutes of new footage that had until recently been considered lost and gone forever. These deleted scenes have not been edited back into the film, but will be available in their entirety on the disc. Joining them will be a handful of outtakes.
